Becoming a MAISS Mentor FAQs

What is the MAISS Mentorship Program?
The MAISS Mentorship Program matches undergraduate students with other students that have a passion for business and technology. The MAISS Mentorship Program hopes to create a network of students who have an interest in business and technology and who are devoted to guide each other academically, professionally, and socially. Each mentor is matched with one or two mentees.

Why should I become a mentor?
Being a MAISS mentor comes with many benefits and privileges. The main ones are highlighted below:
  • Free membership & free MAISS T-Shirt
  • Access to exclusive MAISS mentor/mentee events
  • Strong friendships
  • Graduation sashes
  • Opportunity to meet and network with people who are interested in business and technology
  • Opportunity for self-exploration through mentoring mentee(s)

  • Access to all MAISS resources free of charge

Do I need to be a MAISS member to become a mentor?
No, non-members can apply to become mentors.

What are the requirements of becoming a mentor?
  • Incoming sophomore, junior, senior+
  • Passionate in business and technology
  • Caring, Compassionate, & Responsible

What are the responsibilities for a mentor?
  • Provide mentee(s) with guidance and support to facilitate academic, professional, and social development
  • Participate in Mentor Training, which will take place week 0 & week 1 during the following Fall Quarter 

When will I be matched with my mentee(s)?
Mentees apply in the 
Fall Quarter. After mentees and mentors have a chance to meet each other in our annual Meet the Mentors event, mentors and mentees will be matched up.
